My sweet little baby is almost 6 months old. And if I do the math, that means I haven’t blogged in a really, really long time. It also means it’s time to share the story of his birth.
Last year was a wild and crazy year for us. New job for me, new career path for Matt and a new baby for both of us. If you really want to shake up your life, throw a baby into the mix. Babies change everything.
I knew after Matteo (full name: Matthew Baadal Gusmano) was born that I would want to remember his birth story. At the time, recalling every detail was awful and painful. But now, five months later, I am really ready to remember each moment and to share it with you. My friend Dr. Archer always says that when you tell your story, you heal your body. After this experience, I finally understand how true that really is. There is something so therapeutic about letting emotional pain out of your body. I feel as though I recovered from the physical aspects of being pregnant and having a baby much quicker than I recovered from the emotional stuff. Emotional stuff takes time. It’s messy to let it out.
Sharing a birth story is personal. This story is a part of my heart and there is nothing that can be changed about it. It happened as it did for reasons that I may never understand.
