A couple of months ago Rifle Paper Co. partnered with BIRCHBOX and I got sucked into the world of subscription boxes. Something about the beautiful floral printed box just got me. For $10/month I figured I didn’t have much to lose.
So far, I’ve been loving it! I try to make good choices when it comes to cosmetics and skin care products and I’ve been pleasantly surprised to see some really awesome (clean) brands in my box. I even found a new vegan, paraben free, natural facial exfoliator that I love through a sample I got in my box.
Disclaimer: a lot of the samples are products I wouldn’t normally buy, but they’re fun to try. I’ve always loved make up and this is a fun way to experiment without committing to a full size product.
Dr. Brandt Pores no More Cleanser:
Dr. Brandt products are created by a dermatologist. The product line is cruelty free and free of animal products. It’s scented with botanical extracts, not synthetic fragrance and contains “active naturals.” This cleanser is ok – the size is perfect for my travel bag so I’ll be taking it on the road but sticking to my Dr. Bronner’s face wash at home.
R+Co Death Valley Dry Shampoo:
Confession: I am obsessed with dry shampoo. With my shorter hair it’s a lifesaver. I use it to add texture to my roots and to help my soft hair hold a curl. This particular one smells amazing and doesn’t leave behind a funk like most dry shampoos. The fragrance is almost coconutty. I would buy this in a full size.
The Balm Desert Bronzer Blush:
This might be my favorite item out of this month’s box. This bronzer is perfect for my skin tone. It’s paraben free, cruelty free and made in the USA. The woman who started this company built it out of her kitchen and her passion for make up. I love that!
IPKN Pore Apple Sun Cream:
This is a Korean brand and the ingredients list is LONG. I haven’t actually tried this out yet and I don’t think I’m going to. Something about the packaging, color, scent isn’t appealing to me.
Coola Radical Recovery After Sun Lotion:
I’m already a fan of Coola so I’m never disappointed to get a sample in my BIRCHBOX. I hadn’t tried this particular product before but Matt and I are heading to the beach this weekend (if the weather permits) and I’m sure he’ll need some after sun recovery.
