Sometimes it feels like weekends are an endless blur of errands, cleaning, meal planning and prepping. This weekend was a little bit different with it being Halloween. I got out of work early on Friday and that made it seem like my weekend was longer than it usually it. This Friday I’ll be heading to Chicago for a one day intensive seminar with my job. The last time I was in Chicago was February (to take boards) and it was freezing cold. I imagine it’ll be a little less cold this time around. Or maybe not given that parts of the U.S. got 20+ inches of snow over the weekend [!!!].
Back to errands…
There was a time in my life when I only ventured to Costco when we ran out of TP. Lately, it feels like I’m always at Costco. Only that’s not entirely true. It’s more like we go to Costco every other week to stock up on smoothie supplies. They have really great prices on Almond milk, organic greens and frozen fruit. I’m a girl who likes a good deal.
I know that Costco type stores can sometimes be viewed in a negative light (over consumption) but I really do feel okay about the items I choose to buy at Costco. For example, I found bread from one of my favorite bakeries (based out of Seattle) at Costco. How amazing is that? The Essential Baking Company is still a very small company, yet, I can buy their delicious, artisan organic bread at my local Costco, along with a reasonably price vat of Organic Coconut Oil. It’s hard to hate on that.
Here are a few of my favorites from this week:
This is my favorite frozen broccoli. It comes in 4 individual 1lb bags. It’s organic. And I’m weird and I can pretty much eat broccoli with every single meal. This is one of my go to veggies for dinner.
This is the first time I’ve purchased this brand of honey. The price was right plus it’s raw and it’s unfiltered AND it was produced by American bees. I love American bees.
I love that these are just organic frozen strawberries, no added sugar. As a frozen item, they last longer than a carton of strawberries would. One 4lb bag usually lasts 2 -3 weeks if we have smoothies every morning.
My other favorite frozen fruit: blueberries! These come from Maine, so naturally they remind me of Christine. They’re also organic and sugar-free. This bag also lasts about 2-3 weeks if we have smoothies every morning.
This is hands down one of the BEST Costco finds, ever. I get three individually wrapped loaves of The Essential Baking Company’s French bread and I can bake it when I’m ready to eat it. The bread is packaged to last longer on the shelves than regular bread would and there isn’t anything better than warm French bread with butter. YUM.
What are your favorite big box store finds?
