We had a rainy, dreary Saturday in the Sunshine State, which naturally meant it was time to stock up at Costco. Our last trip was weeks ago – crazy, I know! I attribute that to spending weekends vacationing and enjoying the beach vs. doing adult things like grocery shopping. I have recently become obsessed with adding almond butter to my smoothies, so I would say this was the driving force behind the trip. We ended up with so many goodies!
1. Kirkland Almond Butter
As I mentioned, my sole motivation for going out in the rain after a trip to the dentist (ouch!) was almond butter. I spent $12 at Publix on 16oz of Justin’s Almond butter (another ouch!) but I really, really needed it for my smoothies. I justified it by telling myself that health is an investment (almond butter and health might be a stretch). I was so excited to see that Costco had almond butter and that it wasn’t the brand that I dislike. I picked up two containers and I’m very pleased with the taste/quality/price point.
2. Organic Coconut Milk
I’m normally an almond milk buyer but lately I’ve switched it up with coconut milk. We weren’t entirely sure that that there was a benefit to buying six quarts at Costco vs. 3 half gallons at Publix. The deal was sealed because the Costco version was organic and we could stock up on shelf stable milk vs. running out every few days. My smoothie game as been strong since coming back from Maine and lately I’ve been loving: mango, coconut milk and vanilla plant protein, which brings me to…
3. Organic Mango Chunks
I’ve literally been waiting all summer for this! I have searched and searched for organic mango chunks but they are really pricey at my usual grocery stores. I almost jumped up and down at Costco when I found the organic mango next to my favorite organic strawberries. Costco, you make all my smoothie dreams come true.
4. Seeds of Change Quinoa and Brown Rice
Last time I was at Costco I picked up the Seeds of Change Brown Rice and Kale and I loved it! Erin mentioned this version in her comment on that post so I picked it up in lieu of the kale version. We had it as a side dish on Sunday night and it was delicious!
5. Organic Dates
Dates are the perfect way to sweeten anything without using refined sugar. They’re great for desserts and in smoothies. We picked up this bag knowing that it’s going to last a while.
6. Grass-fed Butter
I usually buy organic butter but lately I’ve been really into Kerrygold. It’s so smooth and creamy; I love the taste. It’s a favorite of ours and we always come back to it. If you’re not into grass-fed butter, Costco also sells organic butter.
Your turn: What’s your favorite Costco purchase? Do you do a happy dance when you find almond butter at a reasonable price?
